Mom is having her last round of chemo this week. Yeah! She's still anemic, and will be having more blood tomorrow.

Once this is finished, they'll wait about a month, then do another CT scan. Then 10 rounds of prophylactic radiation of the brain, which scares me seriously.

She's exhausted but otherwise holding up well. It will be months before she begins to feel good again, though.

Had a quiet 4th. Had a crab boil at home, one of the daughter's favorite things to do.

Freelance writing is going well. Dropped one client who doesn't pay well, about to drop another.

Life's good.

Mom had a rough week last week with her chemo. She'll be having another transfusion tomorrow, probably another 2 units.

We had a quiet Father's day. [info]jediclampett got some books he had been coveting, and I sang in the all women's church choir.

Good news from mom's oncologist today. The CT scan last week showed the cancer is gone from the lymph nodes, and the mass is about half the size it was originally. Mom has 2 more rounds of chemo, and then probably prophylactic radiation to the brain. But so far, things are looking good. Praise God!

11:12 pm - Happy last day of radiation!
Mom had her last radiation treatment today! There should be cake.

Probably sometime in the next couple of weeks they'll do a PET scan and see if what they've done so far has taken care of her cancer. They said they'd like to do prophylactic radiation of her brain, but quite frankly, I just don't think that's such a good idea. We'll have to talk with her oncologist, but if she asks my opinion, unless the oncologist can give us some persuasive evidence to have it done, my recommendation would be to give it a pass.

[info]ginamariewade is home now, but [info]msolursh remains in the hospital. [info]ginamariewade's leg is still healing, and she is still taking Coumadin for the blood clots. Unfortunately, she can't take anything stronger than Tylenol for the pain, and having had a blood clot, I can tell you that Tylenol is about as effective as throwing mini-marshmallows at a charging bull.

[info]msolursh is still quite ill: he's being treated for blood clots (possibly a pulmonary embolism), his white blood cell counts are still way too high so they're playing antibiotic roulette, his left leg is still swollen because of the infection, both of his feet are so swollen he can't walk, his urinary output is still not normal, and he may have a gastrointestinal infection because he's having bloody stools. His cognitive impairment has resolved since they downgraded him from morphine to Lortabs; it's good that he is no longer hallucinating, but he's also in pain again. He's not out of the woods, folks, so keep him--and their whole family--in your prayers.

I just talked to Janet. She's doing better. Her coumadin levels still aren't high enough to be therapeutic, and she's still in an awful lot of pain, but there are some signs that her leg is beginning to heal. She says it looks better overall, and the smaller abscesses seem to be healing. She still has a large wound on the back of her leg, and a large one on the front of the same leg, but the dressing they are using with that helps.

Marc isn't doing so well. They are concerned that his lack of urine output could be something more than simple dehydration, especially since his urine is, according to Janet, the color of Coca-Cola. They've got him drinking lots of fluids, and are doing some tests. He's still having trouble breathing, and his leg is very swollen and painful. They're going to do a chest x-ray, and they are having trouble keeping an i.v. going as they keep infiltrating.

Jacob is well. He went to school today, and is still staying with his Grandmother.

Please continue to pray for both of them. I'll post again when I have more news.
